Several areas will be monitored throughout the five year period (2009 - 2014) to determine progress and overall attainment of the objectives. These include but are not limited to Hunting and Target Shooting.

Hunting:

  • State issued hunting license sales data - reported by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife
    2006 data = 14.6 million certified hunting license holders.
    Target Objective : 17.5 million*

  • National Survey of Fishing, Hunting and Wildlife-Associated - conducted every 5 years by USFWS
    2006: 12.5 million hunters (age 16+)
    Target Objective: 15.0 million*

  • Syndicated Survey Data - National Sporting Goods Association: Sports Participation in 2007: (Participants 8 years of age and older who participated within the last year)

    • Hunting (Net) = 20,180,000
      Target Objective: 24,216,000*

    • Hunting with Firearms = 19,452,000
      Target Objective: 23,342,000*

    • Hunting with Bow & Arrow = 5,744,000
      Target Objective: 6,892,800*

  • Retail Sales & Distribution Channels - an assessment of segment performance as reported by retailers and distributors.
